So It's Been A Month

Since you've left us.

It's amazing that almost anything and everything I lay my eyes on, it reminds me of you.
When we were celebrating Aza's graduation at a Spanish restaurant in downtown St Petersburg (you would love it there), Djobi Djoba by Gypsy King was playing in the background and you came to our mind. It was as though you were there celebrating with us.
Since it's Ramadhan, the bazaars would remind me of you. You would take us to Ampang Jaya's bazaar every Ramadhan when you were healthier. Buying fireworks was a must; It was our yearly ritual.
When I see pelita in people's front lawn, it reminded me of you. You would put up the pelitas all around Ampang every Ramadhan and I remember being in glee whenever I see them lit.
When I see a mamak stall, it reminds me of your favorite; mee mamak. When I hear the word karaoke, a memory of you singing to Widuri in the TV room lingers in my mind. When I see McDonalds, I remember you would address your big-O belly, Big Mac and everything else on their menu. You would say "Ketiak Mat Salleh bau macam McDonald's". LOL!

I will cherish all the memories I have of you and I will never let them go.
You are truly missed and I love you with all my heart Grand, my hip and happening datuk.

Biskut Tat

Sorry, this is not a baking tutorial post :p

As I am typing this, this lovely plastic jar of Biskut Tat is admiring me. *Hello you, yes you sweet tarts*

Well, rather moi admiring them.

Growing up, I never liked this gems. My nenek would bake this every Raya ever since I could remember. I'm not sure if she's baking them this year; I don't think she has for the past few years.

Growing up, I didn't have a sweet tooth therefore I was very picky with my cookies and cakes. Even nenek knows I tak suka manis2. Everything changed when I got married. My inlaws ADORE sweet delicacies and I too have become a fan.

I crave for sweet-yummylicious dessert and I am extra adventurous to try the desserts that once upon a time cringed me.

Yeay to me!

Since baking for me is a little impossible, thank god for biskut tunjuk (my aunt uses this term because all you have to do is point out to the makcik which biskut raya you would like to buy). LOL

Doning baju kurung today. Semangat RAYA! Hehe..

I Do

I love going through wedding blogs even though I've been happily married for more than two years. I love everything about weddings; weddings make me happy.

I wished I had spend more time on the detailing of my own wedding but I was a little busy with my finals at that time and my wedding was on a student budget. Don't get me wrong, I do love my wedding but it was just okay for the price we paid. Plus, my photographer was blergh; he didn't capture many details of our wedding. Grrrrrr :(

If I had some extra cash, here are the things that would make me a little more..what's the word, satisfied.

I would love some music in the background (a DJ or better yet a band), I would love a professional photographer that does weddingssss, I would love to have waiters/waitresses (thank god for my family and friends but any bride would feel horrible to see their guests getting "dirty" :<), I would love for more props to beautify the ceremony and I would love for my family and friends in Malaysia to be there.

Not much ey? But I guess we can't have everything we want.

Can I have another reception since I didn't have one here in Malaysia.

Might as well use the money for travelling or house decorations (now let's not get me started there) BUT if I have a reception here, perhaps I won't feel as bumped, PERHAPS! ;p

Yea know what, I can't wait to plan for my children's wedding. I might be a bride/groom-mommyzilla since I didn't get to be a bridezilla. *evil grin*

Ramadhan Wishlist

Is there such list? Hehe..

Since it's Ramadhan and this is the baking season of Malaysia, I too want to try to bake some goodies for Raya. I am especially inspired to bake after stopping by on some really good baking blogs.

Now, the only thing that is stopping me from this "adventure" is a CAKE MIXER. I do not own one! *cries blood*

I would LOVE a KitchenAid Artisan Mixer in Almond Cream pretty please with cherry on top.

Sigh....

If I have this in my kitchen, I swear I'll bake everyday ;p

Salam Ramadhan

Hope everyone is having a splendid Ramadhan thus far.

Thank god our days are nothing like the long summer days in the US or Europe. For example, Amsterdam's maghrib is at 9.20-ish p.m. and Isya' is at 12.04a.m! By the time you're done with Terawikh prayers, you don't have much time to indulge because Subuh is at 3-ish a.m. L-O-C-O! At times like this, I appreciate my 1 season country Malaysia :p However, the weather there is nothing like a typical scorching hot summer; they're in the 60s F/<20C in the day time *jealous* Anyhoos, how are your Raya preparations? Mine is 1%. Sad, I know. The only two things I have off my list are Maya's raya shoes and a couple of rompers that she can wear on 2nd Syawal onwards. Let's not get panicky Farah; I still have about 2 weeks to Raya. *gulp* I love Raya! I love everything about Raya, from new clothes to delicious menu all month long. I almost always do Raya sakan, be it in Malaysia or in the US.

I hope you guys are enjoying your Ramadhan and Raya preparations!
