That whole summer in KL, my mom insisted that I must meet this guy, who is my aunt’s neighbor, that my mother found ideal (husband/father material) for me. She said, “you will like this guy, he’s your kind of guy, I just know it” and THE most important of all, MOMMA-duke likes him.
My sister and I were in KL that summer for only A month. We couldn’t stay longer because we had to go back to FL and work (gotta make money to pay them bills).
Just few days before I head back to St Petersburg, FL, my mom reminded me to meet this guy. We were so busy that summer and honestly I didn’t feel like wasting an evening befriending someone I have no clue off. Hehe =D
I said “ok, ok” and thought to my self “this guy better be worth the time = yummylicious!”
“He had me at Hello”
It was Tuesday teatime (can’t remember the exact date), which was just 4 days before going back to responsibilities, my mom arranged us all to meet.
While waiting for them boys to get to KLCC, the rest of us were waiting for them in front of Dome Café. For some reason I had tiny butterflies, the longer we waited, the butterflies were no longer tiny! It was as though I had a swarm of bees in me belly.
Well of course it makes sense later; I was about to meet my husband. The one I’ve been asking God in every prayer; the one I’ve been waiting for.
F.I.N.A.L.L.Y. they got there, THANK GOD, I couldn’t take the nervous-ness anymore. I didn’t know which one was Faliq (there were two guys) but my mom did always say that he’s good looking and “he’s mine kind of guy” (no offense Haziq, you’re good looking). So the moment I saw Faliq, BANG cupid did his thing, and I was definitely in love.
The Venue: Aseana Café, KLCC
Present were: mommy, Aza, Aya, Uncle Daud @ Abah, Haziq, Faliq <3 and I. We had tea at Aseana, I wasn’t being me AT ALL. I was definitely trying to impress my soon-to-be father-in-law (haha, law of attraction people, if you put your mind to it, it will come true, and in my case it DID!) Faliq showed no like-ness towards me. No flirting/signs/ANYTHING: zero, zilch, NADA!! I wasn’t “heartbroken” (maybe a little, teehee =D). He challenged me, and let me tell you, never ever have I have this drive in me that I must make someone fall for me. Sounds a little desperado eh? Hahahahahahahaha…. I still have butterflies thinking about this special day, oh wait, maybe that was just my baby moving in my belly. Wednesday: Just Hanging Out Well after that awesome teatime, even though he hardly talked, we hung out the next day. He treated Haziq, Aza and I for lunch at Chili’s, KLCC. Later after lunch, the four of us + my cousin went around town to run some errands for my mom and I enjoyed every second of it even with the others around. His presence made me weak in the knees. I was really in love. I know it sounds a little weird, since all we had were casual talks. Anyhoos, we hung out more after dinner that night till late. That day we saw a lot of each other which was *blissful*. It was starting to get late so we called the night off because Mr.Pilot had to go to Medan, Indonesia the next morning. 3 cakes = I love you? I’m leaving this Saturday! When will I meet him again? I needed more time, time for both of us to get to know each other, just some time for him to know me enough to fall in love with me (I was already madly in love with him :p) We or I have to come up with a plan. My mom saw how I was sooooooooo head over heels with Faliq, so she came up with a BRILLIANT idea! She suggested for me to order cakes from Faliq from Medan (it’s their local delicacies). Layer cake is my FAVORITE and since I’m leaving for states, bringing some cakes back would be so AWESOME. I asked Faliq for that favor and he said yes, but he told me that I have to meet him at the airport on that Thursday morning because he had other places to go. Of course, I said, “no problemo papi.” Well minus the papi :p. So my mom drove me to the airport since I didn’t know and I still don’t know how to get to KLIA. When we got there, we waited for him at the curb. I called him on his cell and he came out, and there he was, walking towards our direction, he was in his uniform + dashing smile + gorgeous EVERYTHING, I didn’t want to go back to St Pete that Saturday. I ordered two cakes from him but he got me three. I took it as a sign, 3 cakes = I love you. Oh my god, HE LOVES ME TOO!!?? Nope, I decipher it wrongly; he wasn’t in love with me YET. =) Few months later, thanks to the internet world and nowadays’ technology, we were both in love. And yes you’re right, it was a long distance relationship, and we proofed that it can work since we got married less than two years later!

I love you Faliq~
