Maya Suraya turned 16 months old past weekend and here are some things that she can do thus far.
Maya can’t speak yet but her comprehension is quite impressive to me. She understands us and when she’s in a good mood, she’ll do what she’s told to do. Here are some examples;-
(1) “Maya, where’s your shoes? Go get your shoes; we’re going out.” She will go to the door (her shoes are parked by the main entrance) to get the shoes and she’ll have anyone of us to help her put it on.
(2) “Maya, where’s your water?” and she will go get her water tumbler.
(3) “Where’s Mama/Dada/Atok/Omah etc?” and she’ll point out.
(4) “Sit down Maya”
(5) “Where’s Maya?” and she’ll point to her self.
(6) “Maya turn round and round and round” and she’ll twirl.
(7) She’ll dance when we tell her to dance
(8) She’ll give us a cheeky smile when we ask her to smile
(9) She’ll give us kisses when we ask for it.
(10)She’ll brush her teeth using her index finger when we sing “This is the way I brush my teeth…”
(11)She'll pick up her toys and put them away when we sing "Pick up all your toys and put it in the basket..." - Thanks to Gymboree =D
….and the list goes on.
She also knows some of her body parts. Such as:-
(1) Eyes
(2) Nose – We usually ask her to pinch her nose and she’ll do it
(3) Mouth
(4) Tongue – She will stick it out and make a sound that sounds like “lo lolololo”
(5) Ears – She’s almost getting this. If she’s focused, she’ll pull both her ears.
She has some favorite songs
(1) Twinkle Twinkle Little Star – She’ll do the hand gestures
(2) Elmo’s Song – She’s obsessed with Elmo/Sesame Street. Everytime she sees an Ipad, she’ll say “La La”. Thank god for youtube.
(3) 1 2 3 4 – The Feist and Sesame Street
(4) Elmo & Gabby – Fun At Home
Vocabulary
(1) Melk – Milk
(2) Menana – Banana
(3) Mama – I address my self as mommy but she still says Mama
(4) Dada – It’s supposed to be Daddy. She gets so excited when she sees her “Dada!”
(5) Shhhh – Shoes
(6) Wow
(7) O’ oh
(8) Yes – She uses this sometimes
(9) Allah – Pelat version
If she sees anything foreign on the floor, she’ll pick it up and give it to the grown up. She still sleeps with us and I love it (YEAY co-sleeping). I’m still breastfeeding her; she wakes up few times every night. She doesn’t like formula milk. She’ll pull her shirt up (most of the time) to signal us that she pooped. She eats almost anything we give her (YEAY!).
She’s a JOY and I am too proud to witness a MIRACLE.
Alhamdulillah.
Always Proud Mommy/Mama
